Welcoming a baby is a special journey. A time of great change, growing expectations and sometimes plenty of questions. Our midwives support you from the moment you hope to start a family until your baby turns one.

Good support helps you go through these different stages with confidence. From planning a baby, through pregnancy and the first weeks, until your baby turns one: the midwife remains your point of contact, with personal, expert and warm support.
- Planning a baby: a preconception consultation to prepare for pregnancy.
- Pregnancy: care for mother and baby, with time for your questions.
- After the birth: postnatal care at home during the first weeks.
- Until your baby turns one: ongoing follow-up, breastfeeding support and answers to your questions.
Personal care, clearly arranged
Midwife care is provided by a self-employed midwife who is contracted with the national health insurance (RIZIV/INAMI) and charges the official rates.
Thanks to direct billing (the third-party payer scheme), the costs of antenatal and postnatal care are usually paid directly by your health insurance fund, so you do not have to pay them up front.
Planning a baby
A healthy pregnancy starts before the positive test. If you would like to become pregnant, a preconception consultation helps you prepare. We look at health, nutrition and lifestyle, as well as your menstrual cycle, fertility and any medical points of attention.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy brings change, wonder and sometimes uncertainty. During pregnancy, both mother and baby receive professional care. Alongside the medical check-ups, there is room for questions, worries and everything that comes with this special time.
We monitor blood pressure, weight, the baby’s growth and position, heartbeat and urine. When needed, blood tests, a glucose test or screening for group B streptococcus can also be done.

But good pregnancy care goes beyond check-ups. There is also simply room to be listened to.
After the birth
The first weeks with a baby are special, and sometimes intense. After the birth, the focus shifts to the mother’s recovery, the baby’s health and finding a new balance as a family. Postnatal care takes place at home, in the family’s familiar surroundings.
For the baby, we monitor weight, feeding, temperature, skin colour, urine, stools and care of the umbilical cord, among other things. The mother is also closely monitored: blood pressure, blood loss, recovery of the womb, stitches or the caesarean scar.

We also support you with breastfeeding, practical questions and minor complaints after the birth. And above all, there is room to stop and talk about how you are really doing.
Until your baby turns one
After the first weeks, the midwife remains your point of contact. Until your baby turns one, you can turn to her for your baby’s follow-up, for questions about feeding and breastfeeding, and for your own recovery after the birth.
